GCSE Courses

GCSE

Westminster Tutors provides tuition for the GCSE in a wide range of subjects. Full courses can be taken over one or two years. Some students also choose to take or retake a couple of GCSEs whilst studying for their A-levels.  Our extensive list of subject tutors means that we are able to offer GCSE courses for almost all examination boards and unit options.  This means that students have far greater flexibility and choice than they would in school.

GCSE Retake Courses

GCSEs may be retaken either in November/January or in May/June. If a student needs to improve by one or two grades, it is often possible to retake in the winter, but if a student needs to make a significant improvement or wishes to retake numerous subjects, it is often advisable to retake in the summer.  In addition to students aged 16-18 retaking GCSEs, many adults come to us to improve a GCSE grade which is necessary for their careers.  For adults, we are often able to provide GCSE tuition which is timetabled around their work commitments.

All GCSE retake courses are geared towards the specific areas where the students need support, and ample time is allowed for examination practice and feedback to improve exam technique.  Guidance is also given on any practical work or coursework that is part of the GCSE.

What is a GCSE?

GCSE stands for the General Certificate of Secondary Education, with examinations usually taken at the age of sixteen by the vast majority of students in England. GCSEs are offered in a wide range of subjects and universities usually expect an applicant to have pass grades (A*-C) in at least five subjects, including Mathematics and English Language. On completing their GCSEs, students who wish to go to university will invariably go on to study A-levels (AS and A2).
