Earlier this month, our former pupil Henna Jolapara was chosen to be our Westminster Tutors CIFE student of the year for the 2017/18 academic year and was presented with her award at the House of Lords by Lord Lexden, president of CIFE (Council for Independent Education). CIFE is the professional association for independent sixth-form colleges, and provides support and advice to students all over the UK.
Henna Jolapara joined Westminster Tutors in September 2017 and made an immediate impact as a friendly and approachable student, who was also determined to succeed academically and help others. She had planned to study Finance at university, but used her year with us as an opportunity to reconsider her career goals, leading to the decision to study Primary Education with a specialism in Maths. This career choice is perfectly suited to someone as hard-working, generous and compassionate as Henna, qualities she showed both at Westminster Tutors and over two terms of work experience as a teaching assistant at a local primary school. Her hard work paid off, and following a two-grade increase in her Mathematics A level, Henna is now flourishing at her top university choice.
This award reflects her hard work throughout the year and we expect her to make a great teacher and to be a future education leader.
