Dr Jennifer Hankin Published in Burlington Contemporary

Jul 18, 2025

We are delighted to share that Jennifer Hankin, one of our outstanding History of Art teachers at Westminster Tutors, has published a solo-authored paper in The Burlington Contemporary. This is a truly impressive achievement and a testament to her academic expertise.

Jennifer’s article, Disorder and Dissonance: The Architectural and Utopian Ecologies of Sarah Sze, was published in June 2025 and provides a beautifully clear and layered analysis of Sarah Sze’s immersive installations. It explores how her chaotic visual worlds create imaginative new landscapes while engaging with wider cultural and environmental questions. The article has been warmly received by the artist herself and draws on Sze’s 2023 Timelapse exhibition at the Guggenheim in New York.

In addition to being an exceptional teacher at Westminster Tutors, Jennifer is a multidisciplinary art historian and Associate Lecturer at the University of the Arts London. Her scholarly interests include contemporary art, utopianism, world building, and politics.

At Westminster Tutors, our students benefit from Jennifer’s rich curation and academic research background, including experience at the V&A, the Design Museum, and Sotheby’s Institute. Very few schools or sixth forms in London offer A level History of Art, and even fewer can offer it in a personalised and academically rich setting on a one-to-one basis.

Jennifer’s success reminds us how fortunate we are in our college community to work with professionals actively shaping their fields. Her writing captures why installation art can be so influential and shows how excellent teaching and scholarship can open up new ways of seeing the world.
